Cockroach Exclusion
Cockroaches are considered difficult to control, which is why Bug Commander (BC) requires a minimum of two treatments to get rid of bed bugs. Cockroach exclusions typically take 45 minutes to complete and can be scheduled within a 2 hour window if necessary.
The success of this service depends on the completion of client responsibilities listed below. A 90-day warranty will be provided should all necessary areas be treated and the client complete their responsibilities. Receiving a warranty will be determined by the BC technician performing the service.
Client responsibilities before the initial treatment:
Empty cabinets, drawers, and trash cans: Empty out all kitchen/bathroom cabinets, drawers, and trash cans.
Empty countertops: Remove all knickknacks.
Small appliances: Large microwaves, ovens, and other small appliances can stay where they are so they can be treated if needed.
Large appliances: Pull refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove away from the wall far enough so the technician will be able to reach behind them. Technicians can assist with this, if needed.
Clean: This pre-treatment cleaning will help remove cockroach eggs.
- Clean all appliances, counter tops, cabinets, drawers and kitchen/bathroom floors with soap and hot water
- Vacuum all floors paying special attention to baseboards
- Vacuum the edges of cabinets and drawers
Food: Do not keep any unopened food out during treatment. Place unopened food on the table or in the middle of the living room and cover with a sheet, blanket, or plastic tarp.
Where to place your items: Place all removed items on a table or in the center of the living room floor and cover with a sheet, blanket, or plastic tarp. Any dishes left in the house should be washed before use.
Please do NOT self-treat before or after BC’s service visit as these products will not allow our treatment to work correctly and may void the warranty.
What clients can expect during this service:
- Inspection
- Installation of insect monitors (during second visit)
- Interior treatment using baits, dusts, aerosols, or liquid products pending the infestation
- Notification of any major issues that need to be addressed to prevent re-infestation and in order to receive a warranty
Client responsibilities after this service:
For safety: Do not go back inside or into treated areas for 1-2 hours after the roach treatment begins. Make sure pets, children, and people with breathing issues do not enter the home until another person checks to make sure all surfaces are dry and no odors are present. If odors are still present after 4 hours, clients may open windows to air out the home. No one should touch the roach bait.
Cleaning: This post-treatment cleaning will help remove new cockroach eggs.
- Clean any surfaces that will come in contact with food like counters, tables, and bars
- Clean the bottom surfaces of cabinets
- Do not leave any food, trash, grease, or drinks out at night
- Do not leave dirty dishes on counters or in the sink at night
- Seal all food in airtight containers and zip-lock bags (For example: chips, crackers, cereal, and cat/dog food cannot be left in their original packaging. Those packages are not airtight, so roaches are able to get inside.)
- It is very important to not use any cleaners on all other surfaces in the kitchen or treated areas for a minimum 14-21 days
- Vacuum up any dead roaches every day
Keep in mind:
- Seeing cockroaches after these treatments are normal until control is achieved
- Additional follow up treatments may be necessary pending the infestation
- BC will reach out to the client to schedule follow-up visits
